How to Make Nerds’ Rope
Welcome to the Nerds’ Rope blog! Here you will find tutorials and information on how to make your own nerds’ rope. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced maker, we hope you will find what you are looking for here.
To start, you will need:
-Nerds’ rope (available at most fabric stores)
-Fabric glue (optional)
1. First, cut the rope into desired lengths. I recommend starting with about 5 feet and working your way up. You can also make shorter pieces if you want, but be aware that they may not hold their shape as well.
2. Next, fold the rope in half so that the fibers are facing out. Make sure that each half is approximately the same length.
3. Now clip one end of the folded rope to the stitch marker, making sure not to cut through the middle of the loop. Repeat with remaining ends of rope. You now have two “infinity loops”.
4. Take one of the loops and thread it through one of the infinity loops on top (the loop closest to you ). Now take the other loop and thread it through the other infinity loop on the bottom (the loop furthest from you). You now have a “bunny ear”.
5. Next, give the bunny ear a little stretch by pulling on both ends. Do this a few times until the bunny ear is pliable.
6. Now, using your scissors, cut off one of the ends of the bunny ear so that it is about an inch long. This will be your “tail”.
7. Next, take the remaining end of the bunny ear and thread it through one of the loops on top (the loop closest to you). Now take the other loop and thread it through the other loop on the bottom (the loop furthest from you). You now have a “tailed knot”.
8. Finally, give the tail a final stretch by pulling on both ends. Do this a few times until it is pliable.
9. Now, using fabric glue (if desired), attach the tail to one end of the bunny ear so that it is in between the two loops. Make sure that you are attaching it evenly and snugly so that it does not move during wear.
Things to consider while making Nerds’ rope
When making nerds’ rope, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Firstly, the diameter of the rope should be small enough that it can fit through the holes on either end of the connector, but large enough so that it is not too tight or too loose.
Secondly, the knot used to connect the two ends of the rope should be sturdy and able to hold up to repeated use. Thirdly, it is important to make sure that the knots are evenly spaced along the length of the rope to avoid any kinks or twists.
Finally, it is important to clean and dry the ropes frequently to prevent them from deteriorating.
